Sometimes when I import my obj into Zbrush I get spikes that shoot off the object when I subdivide the model. Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix this?

I think I figured it out. I think it was the N gons. To fix it I converted to triangles and then converted back to quads.

never have ngons in your models, never. That is the best thing to remember when using multiple programs :) I could not have answered your question as there was no way I would have known you had unconverted NGons in your model :P The other thing is triangles, especially sharp ones. They can all but ruin your highpoly baking and such.

Hmm, I converted the model to quads and I'm still getting spikes when I subdivide in Zbrush. There are no N gons in theobj's I'm importing.
Anyone know why these spikes are appearing in Zbrush?

have you selected all the vertices's in your model and made a nearweld? only one smoothing group?

Yup, I did a near weld then did a clean up on all N sided polys. The spikes were still there. So instead of trying to fix tehmodel I just remodeled it making sure not to have any triangles.
Its works now.
Thanks for your help, Skyway. :)
