Hi all!
Just wanted to show you my latest work in progress. The Remington 870.
It's still very rough, and I have a lot to tweak on the highpoly before I start with the lowpoly business.
Do you have any crits, ideas etc? I'd love to hear it, seeing as I'm a gun-nut.

Yes, this is technically a rip-off off Disting's thread, but you get the point.
This is a 8 months old model for a dead project, that I decided to work on again today when I saw Disting's Mossberg.
I still got a lot of details and stuff to add, but let's see once I'm done.
Constructive criticism is appreciated!

Very nice!
I think the modeling is great, and proportions are good too.
What is it you need to change before you start the lowpoly business? ^^
Keep it up!

First of all; Thanks! :)
Well, I'm thinking about adding a red dot sight, not sure though.
And I'm thinking a strap, aaaand an ammo pouch on the stock. But let's see.

Oh my God, I cannot believe it has been this long already since I started this! Yet I haven't finished it..
Well, I recently got my new pc and I'm slowly getting back into work, and today I decided to start trying to bake this again.
Weirdly enough, this time I'm not getting errors all over the place, so I might actually be able to finish it this time! :D
The only thing I've changed since last time is my pc and upgraded to a new version of Max, so idk why I'm actually able to bake it now. But if it works, I'm a happy man!
I'll keep ya'll updated!

Alright, got it baked! There's still some errors to get sorted out, but it's on it's way.
(I suck at showcasing normals, so bear with me.)
Btw, it's sitting at 3555 triangles.

From the angles you've shown it it's sort of hard to take a proper look at the bake but it looks pretty good to me.

I'm not very good at showing off normals, but I'll see if I can get some better angles when I've fixed up a few errors.

Just for the hell of it, I got a friend to compile the model for the M3 shotgun in CS:S! ;D
Bear in mind that this is an early compile and VERY early textures and far from finished!
And yes, Win-Zip, the compiler, managed to break my UVmaps while he compiled it. :(

And yes, I'm also aware of the shell stuck in the rail mount. It's a compile error and can easily be fixed. ;)
Looooooots of stuff left to do, until this will look good in Source.

Decided to do some more out of the sling for this thing, so I went and modeled an HK Snap Hook. Now I just need to model 3 more pieces, then do the low-polies, unwrap them, texture them, and done!
Edit:// added my reference for the sling.
It's gonna look good ! (Hopefully.)
Edit2:// Added another picture of the high-poly pieces for the sling. Now I just have to make the actual sling, but that should be easy enough !
