    Ork Sword

    Hello all,

This is my first official post on this forum, I'm really impressed with the work I've seen thus far in the recent posts.

I was hoping to get some feedback on a model I just created from a Warhammer Online concept.

    Thanks!

Very great texture work! And model too!
Don't have anything to crit on, except maybe that the wraps around the handle look a bit too flat.

Awesome stuff man! Can't wait to see more from you!

Diffuse is good'n'all but it looks like you just print-screened it in a "flat" light.
Can't see any normal or specular on it.

And would I have it my way I'd have no dark edges, that looks way too cartooney. (at the top of the scull)
Stay in the shadows, avoid the light.

Hmm... I actually think it works well with the outlines. Warhammer has always felt kind of cartoony to me.
But then again, it's not up to me.

    Re: Ork Sword

Thanks for the feed back. This was the first time I used the Marmoset material editor to display my work. I loved how sharp the detail is in the live render window, but I agree how the normals are looking really flat. I will have to work on that and see what I can do.

As far as the dark lines are concerned I was going for a level of detail that looked both stylized and realistic.

Thanks again and I'll post an update soon.

Ok here is an update with renders in 3ds Max I believe I was able to achieve a more dynamic look, and helped pop the normals a bit more.

I really like the style of this one. It looks fantastic rendered.

I agree that the wraps on the handle look a little flat, but I don't thing that's going to matter, especially if something is holding it.

Love it! The textures are fantastic and the concept and shape great. Only thing I'm not entirely convinced by is the 'chinks' in the blade. Some of them seem too smooth. Would suit more if they had some metallic tear lines in them on the normal and spec.
