What software for hard surface modeling Zbrush or MudBox or?

I really want to focus in one thing for my career, because of that i choose hard surface, like weapons, mechanical robots etc etc. Now,the problem is that i've started to learn Zbrush 5 months ago and i am much more confused than before, the Zbrush is so complex but really powerful tool,Now i want to give e go about MudBox,what do you guys thing of this? Can you model, let say a mechanical robot in maya or 3d max, and imported in MudBox and do some crazy stuff there?

this answers your question at least partially
zbrush 4.0 has a set of really powerful new additions that make hard surface sculpting a lot easier, but traditionally mudbox is the way to go, although personally i've never worked with it so I can't say for sure.
they're both very powerful tools if you can work with them, but the same goes for any other tool out there.

I do believe he created that all inside zbrush, no other program to model it.

indeed: he did the entire thing in zbrush, no other modeling tool: he first blocked out the shape using zspheres, and then he started sculpting it's a bit elaborate, but it did work, apparently.
